Protect Your Intellectual Property
in Seconds
Your ideas are valuable. Don’t let others steal them because you haven’t documented correctly.
Accepted in US & EU courts · GDPR compliant
Step 01
Create anything.
Every idea you have, a design, a piece of code, a document, a formula, is your intellectual property the moment you create it. The law recognises creation, but it cannot protect what it cannot prove. Most creators have no record of when they created something.
Step 02
Upload to immut. We can't read it.
Drag and drop your file. immut generates a cryptographic hash and encrypts your content before it reaches our servers. We see ciphertext, not your original file. Your actual idea stays completely private.
Step 03
Public proof. Private content.
The fingerprint is recorded permanently on the XRP Ledger blockchain with a precise timestamp. The record is public; anyone in the world can verify it exists. But without your original file, the hash reveals nothing. Your proof is public and your idea stays completely secret.
Step 04
Proof that lasts forever.
You receive a court-ready certificate: your file's hash, the exact timestamp, and the blockchain transaction ID. This certificate has been accepted as evidence in courts across the US, EU, China, and the UK. No lawyers needed to generate it. No third party can alter it. It exists as long as the blockchain exists.
Proof hash
Zero-knowledge proof
Public proof. Secret idea.
When you timestamp something with immut, a cryptographic fingerprint (not your content) is recorded on the blockchain. The record is permanently public and verifiable by any court in the world. But the fingerprint reveals nothing about your idea. You hold the only key.
Your file
Design, code, documents, anything.
One-way hash
A fingerprint. Mathematically impossible to reverse.
Blockchain record
Hash + timestamp. Public. Immutable. Provable.
Why it matters
Your IP is only as strong as the proof behind it.
Trademarks
Trademarks protect your brand, but only if you can prove you're using it.
Before Registration
- Timestamp your packaging, marketing, and sales activity to prove you were using the brand first, giving you common law priority even without registration
- Document your brand's creative process to establish prior art rights if someone else tries to register a similar mark
- Build a verifiable trail of commercial use to strengthen your trademark application from day one
After Registration
- Prevent non-use cancellation by timestamping evidence of your brand in active commercial use. Trademarks can be revoked after just 5 years of inactivity
- Defend against opposition proceedings by proving your use of the mark predates the challenger's
- Record your brand's evolution over time so design updates are seen as intentional development, not abandonment
Backed by law
Lanham Act (US) — Requires 'bona fide use in the ordinary course of trade' to obtain and maintain a trademark
Trade Marks Act 1994 (UK) — Registered marks can be revoked after 5 years of non-use
EU Trademark Regulation 2017/1001, Article 58 (EU) — Allows third-party cancellation for non-use
Madrid Protocol (International) — International registrations can be revoked in any member country for non-use
What immut does: Creates a permanent, timestamped record of your brand in use, so you always have proof of commercial activity when a registration, renewal, or challenge demands it.

Copyright
Copyright is automatic. Proving it's yours is not.
Before a Dispute
- Timestamp your work the moment you create it to lock in undeniable proof of when it existed, before anyone else can claim it
- Record your creative process step by step to prove human authorship, which is increasingly critical as AI-generated content muddies ownership
- Keep timestamped originals so you can issue takedown notices immediately with evidence that holds up
After a Dispute Starts
- Present a provable creation date in court. The party with the earlier timestamp has the strongest position
- Avoid relying on emails, file metadata, or witness memory, all of which can be questioned, altered, or lost
- Use the same type of evidence that a European court accepted in 2025 when it awarded damages based solely on blockchain timestamps as proof of copyright ownership
Backed by law
Berne Convention (179 countries) — Copyright exists at creation without registration, but proving the creation date is entirely on you
US Copyright Act (US) — Registration strengthens your claim, but evidence of creation date is decisive in disputes
EU Copyright Directive (EU) — Protects original works across 27 member states, but enforcement depends on proving authorship and timing
DMCA (US) — Takedown disputes are won by whoever can prove they created the content first
What immut does: Gives you court-ready proof of when your work was created, the moment it exists, not months later when a dispute forces you to dig through old files.
Trade Secrets
Your secrets are only protected if you can prove you protected them.
Before a Breach
- Timestamp your confidential information to create a verifiable record of what your trade secrets are and when they were identified. This is what courts look for first
- Record who has access to what and when, so you can demonstrate you controlled the flow of sensitive information
- Build an IP inventory with immutable dates to prove you took the 'reasonable measures' that every major trade secret law requires
After a Breach
- Prove exactly what a departing employee or partner had access to and when, removing any doubt about what was taken
- Meet the legal standard that kills most trade secret claims: showing you actually took steps to protect the secret, not just claiming it was confidential
- Strengthen your position in cases where average damages exceed $21 million, but only for those with the evidence to back it up
Backed by law
Defend Trade Secrets Act (US) — Requires proof of 'reasonable measures' to keep information secret
EU Trade Secrets Directive 2016/943 (EU) — Requires 'reasonable steps' and recognises blockchain timestamping as a method to establish creation dates
UK Trade Secrets Regulations 2018 (UK) — Courts assess whether your protection measures match the value of the secret
TRIPS Agreement, Article 39 (164 countries) — Requires 'reasonable steps' for trade secret protection worldwide
What immut does: Creates an immutable record of your trade secrets: what they are, when they existed, and that you treated them as confidential. The clearest way to meet the 'reasonable measures' standard the law demands.

Patents
A patent takes years. Your ideas need protection now.
Before Filing
- Timestamp your invention as early as possible to establish a creation date, critical for proving you had the idea first if someone else files a similar patent
- Document your development process so you can launch a prior use defence if a competitor beats you to the patent office
- Protect your work during the 2 to 5 years a patent takes to process, when your application is public but your rights aren't yet granted
After Filing
- Timestamp post-patent improvements, manufacturing methods, and know-how as trade secrets, extending your competitive advantage beyond the patent's 20-year life
- Protect the 90%+ of innovations that never make it into a formal patent filing but still have commercial value
- Maintain a timestamped development history that strengthens your position if your patent is ever challenged or invalidated
Backed by law
America Invents Act, § 273 (US) — Allows a prior use defence if you can prove commercial use before someone else's filing date
America Invents Act, § 135 (US) — Derivation proceedings let you prove someone copied your invention, but only with evidence of when you conceived it
European Patent Convention (EU) — Has no grace period for prior disclosure; timestamps prove creation without triggering public disclosure
Patent Cooperation Treaty (157 countries) — International filings take even longer; timestamps protect you across jurisdictions while you wait
What immut does: Protects your ideas from the moment of creation, not from the moment a patent office reviews your application. Whether you file a patent or not, your innovation has proof behind it.
